Demo Interface

Hello everyone, I've been working the last weeks on the Demo Interface of the AeroTouch. Some of you have already seen a little bit during class but for those who haven't, here are some screenshots of it. I made it with Flash so that it can be part of the website. It's the first time I've used Flash so I hope its good enough. I'm not finished yet but if I keep working at it, I'll make the deadline for sure.

The design was done keeping in mind that it is intended to be used in a touch screen device. For that reason, buttons and icons are big and easy to manipulate with the fingers. Also, the Interface can be used by adults, children, and people from different cultures. To address this issue, the main buttons have limited or no text at all, using instead intuitive pictography of the desired action.

For now this is all, see you next in class.

Hi everyone,
I have just refined our home page. According to Jaime's advice, I put the sliding images at the bottom of the page.
After you see it, give me your opinions.

Logo 2.0

Hi everyone, I'm uploading the logo without the white background leaving the alpha layer free in order to use it wherever we want. I also retouched it a little bit to make it a little clearer. There's also a text only version of the logo, without the wings because... why not. Additionally, I made some stylized versions of it, shiny and friendlier looking to the eye. Just throwing some ideas in the air because I find the original one a bit "too serious" and... well, why not.
Anyway, have a nice break and see you soon.

Project Outline

Hey guys,

Here is a copy of the project outline and product description.

Project Outline

To design a product and create a 30-45 second 3D animated advert for the purpose of the products promotion. Provide web-based supporting material in order to highlight the professional details, features and benefits of the product as an aid to its promotion. Provide thorough background design and marketing information as backup material for the project.

Proposed Product

The product is comprised of three main parts:

1.     A package of touchscreen monitors with card-swipe facility to be fitted into existing aircraft cabin seats.

2.     A central hub station to connect the touchscreen displays.

3.     A larger central touchscreen for the purposes of control and network observation via the steward’s cabin.

Product Prototype

Hi all, I made a sketch of a prototype for the product. Nothing final, just throwing a couple of ideas. See you in class.

Possible Product Names

Hey all, here's a proposed list of possible names for the product:

  • Nimbus
  • Airtertainment Centre
  • Skyview
  • Atlas
  • Aerotouch
  • Aerosense
  • Skytact
  • Airtime
  • Skypad
  • Robo Sens-o-matic 3000

Obviously the last one is impossible to top, but if you have any ideas please feel free to post them.

credit card swipe scene

Been working very late at night and had another animation scene done. This scene is where passenger is sitting and swiping credit card to ordering food. I will start detailing. I know you might need it changed I can make changes as requested. I have emailed attachment to all.

plane take off scene

Hello everyone,Someone wanted me to do some animation so here it is as requested and emailed.I have done animation couple of years ago, but had to try and remember the theory and terminology through trial and error etc. Struggling a bit, but came up with something and got the hang of it again. Forgot how involved and long it takes to animate but it was fun. If you want the .max file file i have created then i have that on my hard drive. I created other bits and pieces with interior etc. You might not have animation software so I have attached clip of it. We can add some good background music later and it will go well with the advert.

747 Modeling Progress

Hi all,

Creating a 3D model of a 747 is a lot harder than i have anticipated.
Having prior experience in 3D modeling I taught that it will take me
a couple of days. So far it has taken me about two weeks I have spent about 15
hours on it so far and it will take me at least that same amount of time again
to finish the exterior of the 747. I am using 3ds max to create the plane.
The boolin tool in 3ds max works really wired, it adds a lot of extra cuts into the
mesh every time it's used. The boolin tool is used to cut shapes into an object
therefore it is used to cut all the windows into our plane. For me that means a lot
of work because we have got a lot of windows to cut. When creating a 3d mesh it is
important to keep the polygon count as little as possible specially when creating
assets for 3d video games. Because boolin adds that extra poligons i have to
remove that extra information and that can get very messy, confusing and time consuming.

Hera are a few renders of the boing 747

Cheers,

Fehim

Touch screen

Hey all, time for the touch screens. It's the ones we were looking at during class. The basic screen and the one with the credit card terminal to purchase stuff during a flight. I added a picture with a white tablet because of the Graphic User Interface it uses. Very simple, representative icons of the desired action and easy to understand. Anyway, the link to get the full set of pictures is right here.

Seats

Hi all, here's the post about the airplane seats. It's just the ones we thought were closest to what we had in mind. The pictures include the basic chair design and the arm rest with a flat surface for a possible trackpad. For future reference for all the seats I found (including both economy and first class), you can get them here.

Airplanes

Hello everyone, here are the pictures of the airplanes we were looking at last class. It's a Boeing 747-400. I'll post a front/top/side view so that Fehim can use it as reference for the 3-D modelling as well as a picture of the exterior of an existing one. If anyone wants the full set of pictures, I've uploaded them here.
